CARE, BLANCO SOBRE LIAS 2023, ARAGON, SPAIN $12.99 Bodegas Care was founded in the year 2000 as a familiar and modern project focused on grape and wine quality. CARE is the brand and intends to be the new face of Garnacha in Aragon. A tank fermented blend of 60% Grenache Blanc and 40% Chardonnay, this is Spain's answer to French Cotes du Rhone Blanc. Bright, crisp, and aromatic, this lights up the palate with full and rich flavors of white peach, honeysuckle, and jasmine. This wine has character and personality! Textured with incredible acidity (thank you Chardonnay), here’s a wine that will intrigue you.

ARGYLE, CHARDONNAY 2022, WILLAMETTE VALLYE, OREGON $18.99 (MIXED) While I was out in the Willamette Valley early this year for Pinot Camp, we started out in fine fashion with an all you can eat/drink snow crab and Chardonnay luncheon at Argyle. Definitely the highlight of the trip. As I was speaking with their national sales director, she let me know that while outside Oregon they are known for their sparkling wines (which are amazing), but within Oregon they are known for their Chardonnay. One taste of it and it is not hard to imagine why: a glistening light lemon core with a silver rim in the glass, it over-delivers with aromas and flavors of lemon citrus, golden apples, cinnamon sticks, yellow flowers, and wet clay. It was amazing with snow crab, but it would pair well with almost anything.

FAMILLE RICHEL, ‘LE COMBELLE’ APREMONT 2022, SAVOIE, FRANCE $15.99 Located a few miles South of Apremont, near the town of Chambery, Joseph Richel started selling his wines in the 1950s. Today the 4th generation is represented by Christophe and his son Matthieu. With indigenous yeast fermentation, sheep utilized in the vineyard to control cover crop, and vine age of 70-75 years old. Made from100% Jacquère. Notably crystalline & pale in color. Pear, faint whisps of lily, fresh basil, mint leaves and peach. Palate is light and easy, with candied white peach, popsicle, tangerine, poached pear. A little shy when too cold, the nuances deliver when brought up to a breezy temperature.

CHÂTEAU DE FONTENILLE, ENTRE-DEUX-MERS BLANC 2023, BORDEAUX, FRANCE $16.99 (MIXED) The vines of Château de Fontenille have flourished on gravel soils, bathed in generous sun since the 13th century. Hidden among the vineyards was a pilgrimage route to the neighboring Benedictine monastery, Abbaye de la Sauve Majeure, whose monks tended to the vines for hundreds of years. With nearly 42 acres dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Muscadelle and Sauvignon Gris varieties, the history of this site is alive in the gravel and clay dominated soils that contribute to this electric offering that will change how you see Bordeaux Blanc and who knows, might even tempt you away from Sancerre (gasp). Light gold in color, teeming with enticing aromas of citrus fruit and white peaches, it displays wonderful acidity and freshness on the palate coupled with exotic fruit and citrus flavors.

PIERRE ET PAPA, COMTE TOLSAN BLANC 2023, LANGUEDOC, FRANCE $15.99 Inspired by the fanciful tales of Pierre Renard and his father. Pierre et Papa is a compact range of high quality whites, reds and rosés made from grapes sourced throughout southern France. The 2023 white blend is composed of dry Muscat, Vermentino, Marsanne & Sauvignon Blanc. Light yellow color with some green reflections. The nose has young citrus fruit notes, and fresh white flowers. Dry with lovely freshness to it, the lemon citrus notes open out with fresh mint sensations and beautiful acidity on the finish. Just simply delicious on its own as an apéritif, withseafood, BBQ or salads.
DOMAINE DE PAJOT, CÔTES DE GASCOGNE BLANC 2022, SOUTHWEST, FRANCE $12.99 (MIXED) Domaine de Pajot is situated on the hills overlooking Eauze, the small town that is the capital of Armagnac. The four grape titular grape varietals in Pajot are the wines of the region: 35% Sauvignon, 35% Colombard, 20% Ugni-Blanc, 10% Gros-Manseng. From Damien Barreau's biodynamic inspired vineyards in Gascony. A crisp, dry, light, uncomplicated and un-oaked white wine. Medium body, aromatic with juicy peach, nectarine and lively citrus on the crunchy finish. Cerified organic.
