DASHWOOD, PINOT NOIR 2022, MARLBOROUGH, NEW ZEALAND $19.99 (MIXED) An icon and leading region of New Zealand's distinctive style of Sauvignon blanc, Marlborough has a unique terroir, making it ideal for high quality grape production, of many varieties, like this Pinot Noir from Dashwood. A dark ruby red color in the glass, it shows inviting aromas of dark cherry, wild strawberry and plum. Red fruits carry to the generous and juicy palate with hints of spice and smooth elegant tannins giving the wine length and poise. An ideal pairing wine, it would go great with a BBQ chicken pizza and a crisp fall afternoon.

LE SANG DES SEIGNEURS, CÔTES-DU-RHÔNE-VILLAGES 2022, FRANCE $18.99 Created as a tribute to the chivalry of the bygone era which helped develop the south of France into a world-renowned hotspot for food, wine and culture. This Côtes-du-Rhône is a 50/50 blend of Grenache and Syrah, sourced from some of the finest appellate villages in the region. A very expressive, rich, and complex red wine with a nose of red jammy fruits and spicy notes. Its mouth is fruity, well-structured with a delicate fresh finish. A generous and fruity red wine, excellent to accompany any grilled or roasted meats, lamb, Asian and Mediterranean cuisine.

MI TERRUÑO, ‘UVAS’ MALBEC 2022, MENDOZA, ARGENTINA $14.99 (MIXED) This mighty red comes from Argentina's famed Mendoza region, and is jam-packed with ripe red fruits, unctuous herbal notes and a mouthfeel that will leave you yearning for the glass over and over! The Baigorria family - who owns Mi Terruño - has been a mainstay in Mendoza since the 1960s, producing elegant and palate friendly wines from indigenous varietals of the region. Uvas is their most recent project, designed to create approachable and food-friendly bottlings for people of all walks to enjoy. Vibrant red with violet hues. The aromas are a mic of red fruit and fresh herbs. The palate is well-balanced in the mouth with firm and silky tannins. Pairs well with stews or spicy red meats.

VELENOSI, MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO 2022, ABURZZO, ITALY $16.99. Sometimes it can be easy to forget about Montepulciano, the variety that is, maybe because there is a whole region in Tuscany that shares the name but grows Sangiovese instead, however, this Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from Velenosi is definitely something special, offering a complex and enveloping bouquet, with notes of cherries and plums, enriched with hints of spices and a light touch of vanilla from aging in wood. On the palate, the wine is robust and well-structured. The entry is smooth, with a pleasant acidity that balances the tannic richness. The flavors of ripe fruit blend harmoniously with hints of chocolate and coffee, leaving room for a long and persistent finish. Ideal for accompanying robust Italian dishes like like a rich Bolognese.

CHÂTEAU BELLEVUE PEYCHARNEAU, 2019, CÔTES DE BORDEAUX, FRANCE $16.99 (MIXED) The Bordeaux Superior revolution continues with this offering from the new appellation of Saint-Foy, farther upstream from Bordeaux proper, in the highlands of the upper Gironde river. Mostly Merlot, it is characterized by a beautiful nose, very concentrated and complex with woody, vanilla flavors, delicate toasty notes, and red cherry aromas. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, fleshy, structured, and velvety. Good tannic balance. A beautiful, savory finish, with long aromatic persistence. Very food friendly, especially with fall fare, I can’t think of anything I wouldn’t want to drink it with, but at the time of writing I’m craving a bacon cheeseburger which sounds like it would be a slam dunk.

LOS CONEJOS MALDITOS, TEMPRANILLO CARBONICO 2022,  $15.99 What to do when life hands you bunnies that ravage your vineyards?  First, curse, then make great wine from the grapes that remain and use the bunnies on a cute label. This is just what the team at Mas Que Vinos south of Toledo did. The wine is fantastic, natural, fresh and uncomplicated; the perfect chillable red full of crunchy plum fruit but enough tannins to stand up for itself. If just the bunnies knew how good this wine was, they'd stop chewing the bark of the vines and start munching up the berries.
